Brad Paisley : Mud On The Tires

I can’t help myself delve into this first, I have been so wanting to write about one of my favorite songs. LITTLE MOMENTS LIKE THAT was the song is the one which originally made me fall in love with Brad Paisley like 6 years ago.

Mud on the Tires is the 3rd album by the American artist, Brad Paisley. Mud on the Tires was released in 2003, it produced four hit singles on the Billboard Hot Country Singles & Tracks Charts.  Mud On the Tires has hits like “Celebrity”, “Little Moments” and “Whiskey Lullaby”. The album is certified 2x Multi Platinum by the RIAA, while the famous “Whiskey Lullaby” and its title track has been certified gold singles.

Out of all the songs from Mud on the Tires, my personal favorite are Whiskey Lullaby and Little Moments Like that. Brad Paisley has stated that his wife, Kimberly Paisley, is the inspiration for the song,Little moments like that, and she even appears in this music video. Brad mentions that opening part of the song relates or has a basis to the incident in the past

The opening part goes as follows…

Well I’ll never forget the first time that I heard
That pretty mouth say that dirty word
And I can’t even remember now, what she backed my truck into
But she covered her mouth and her face got red and she just looked so darn cute
That I couldn’t even act like I was mad-
Yeah I live for little moments like that

The two events were taken right from the first time Brad heard her swear and how she started to blush when he found a dent in his truck. The song is about the incident that happened in the past and he is trying to recall all the moment he remembers since he has met her. The lyrics are quite well-written and creative. The song goes about how very small things between you and your girlfriend/wife matters and can be cherished. Brad tries to recall all the moments such as when she said a dirty word, when she backed his truck, burnt the cake, lost but holding hands, when she falls asleep on his arm getting is hand numb, and so on. He loves the little moments so much that he will always keep it close to his heart.

I just love this song, specially the following lines…

I know she’s not perfect, but she tries so hard for me
And I thank God that she isn’t
Cause how boring would that be?
It’s the little imperfections, it’s the sudden change in plans
When she misreads the directions and we’re lost
But holding hands-
Yeah I live for little moments like that

Brad very conveniently, through the song, goes on to suggest that no one is perfect and if it was then how perfectly boring world this would have been. In a relationship one has to value the qualities and just ignore the flaws of your partner. Love cannot be controlled and every moment you spend in that is equally cherish-able with every other moment you have spent with the partner. That is the best part of Country music, it has a story and you can relate to it or picture it unlike other genres. Love it to the core.

As I listen to this song all of the sudden my emotional side takes over. I think it’s because I realize how special every moment like that you spend with your beloved are. This song remains so close to my heart till date.

Wonder how every Brad’s song can make me cry but I’m still hooked to it cos it’s a good weep. I can picture every single scene he sings about!

Damn! Where’s my glass of whiskey?

Enjoy Brad Paisley’s Music….
